Brussels Study Trip 2024

The annual Brussels Study Trip, organised by the ATHENA Jean Monnet Chair, took 19 students from Dr Dimitris Bouris’ and Dr Olga Burlyuk’s research project on a fascinating journey into the heart of the European Union.

On the first day, the students discussed the EU’s relations with the Western Balkans and the Eastern Neighbourhood at the European Commission’s DG NEAR, before delving into Brussels’ lobbying on the Dark Side of the EU Tour. The day ended with conversations over drinks with alumni from the MSc Political Science programme at the University of Amsterdam.

The next day, the students took part in thought-provoking discussions at the European Parliament about the EU’s role in the ongoing war between Israel and Gaza. The two-day programme concluded with valuable career advice from alumni working at the Parliament.
